Description I used red marker as a base coat for the hair, and kind of came in too close on her left cheek, making her face more angular than round, (speaking of mistakes, her smile needed to be wider, as it is, it reminds me of mona lisa's mysterious half smile).  Other experiments were the use of peach and red colored pencil instead of graphite when transferring the pic to Bristol board, and the use of lilac for the initial shadow coat and carmine red instead of pink for her cheeks and nose.  I also layered the colors with light pressure, and burnished only once with light peach.

This pic is a loose study of AtomiccircuS' Ariel.  I did not set out to do an exact duplicate (indeed, I am not even in the same league as the guy, so I doubt I COULD do an exact copy), but rather used his as a visual reference.

This took me about 3.5 to 4 hours to complete, from initial sketching to finished product, which is pretty darn fast for me.  That cut off cheek and partial smile irritates the Hell out of me, though, but I am posting it anyway.

She reminds me of Ariel from The Little Mermaid.

that's who it is supposed to be, but I am afraid that one did not turn out so good.

Another interesting experiment, another opportunity to try different techniques and media. It looks like you've figured out the mechanics of rendering skin and hair in a new and vibrant fashion. Using the marker as base for the hair works especially well.

Your future works are bound to benefit from all this.
