Born in a remote village on Grande Cayemite Island, Haiti
His parents, already over-burdened with several children sold Lucien to the local houngan when he was five.
The houngan known locally as Papa Judas, was aging and hoped to train Lucien as his successor. Papa Judas generally used his skills to help the villages nearby. Lucien was a natural and quickly gained both skill and knowledge, but Papa Judas’ ways weren’t enough. Lucien wanted more power.
Eventually he killed Papa Judas and left Grande Cayemite to learn from other houngan.
