I see what you mean here, but it's also a matter of talent, isn't it? And also of different styles (something that we can change only to a minimum.) I mean, I totally thing we may improve what we have, but it's not just time that will turn us into Botticelli.

Have you read Outliers by Malcom Gladwell? There's new research coming out that says talent takes time, and it only comes after a lot of practice. Whether that idea is true or not-- I like it because it's really encouraging! It means that someone with "no talent" can still have the dream of becoming a great artist.
You're right about the style thing though-- it's not like we're all climbing the same ladder or something.

No, I haven't read it - in fact, I've never heard about it! 
I totally agree that practice and effort are essential, but as you say, we we're not climbing the same ladder - or even striving to reach the same artistic goal. Also because that would be quite conforming, right? To draw all in the same way.

Though there are times when I'm discouraged, I think about something similar to this, and it doesn't help anyway.
Lately that's not been the case~ Lately I've been feeling more like "I'm SOOO close to where I want to be, I just need one more shove and I know I can do it!" Whoohoo~

This is so very true, and I've had to tell so many this same thing. I think I'm going to show this to the people that complain as they compare themselves to people that have been at things much much longer.

This makes me feel so much more confident in finishing my writing. Yeah, I feel like he did because I was comparing [link] to Harry Potter or Pendragon and found myself really discouraged and depressed... but my dad gave me one of those "I've experienced this" speeches and gave me some tips, which didn't help much, and then I saw someone worse then me, and helped that person out, which gave me inspiration to write this [link] There is much improvement, and this shows how I feel when I do something right. Thanks for expressing mine, and many more people's thoughts in this piece, I appreciate it.

Wow! I thought I was the only one who felt this way after seeing what others can do.
I also realized that all you're saying... I already knew, but I forgot I did. It's like you're talking about me in your comic.
I might download this and turn it into a poster to put on my wall later, so I don't forget how the process of self-improvement works
