Description
This is a little homage to one of my favorite movies: "Aliens" (1986)It's a 3D scene that I started a very long time ago as an exercise to improve my modeling and texturing skills. It's occasionally been revisited over a period of several years for little tweaks and lighting changes.
Like many 3D scenes - it was never really finished, it's simply been abandoned
This is a view of some of the modular structures with a small vehicle parked nearby...
The designs and imagery are the copyright of 2oth Century Fox, of course.

I get ideas from many places. I like to read about science and history, and look at photographs of things like insects or sea creatures or ancient ruins - many different things. It's really hard to say exactly where ideas come from. I often feel like I am more "reacting" to what I work on than controlling it. Things happen, mistakes it seems at first - and then I think "oh I didn't plan that, but it might be interesting".
Usually I only get an idea at some point in the middle of making a picture. I don't do as well if I try to plan things too much. I just begin, and allow things to flow.

Thanks - Lighting is the most fun part of 3D, for me. It's what brings things to life
I'm feeling in danger of putting up too much "fan art". Hopefully it won't reflect badly on me if I keep it to a very occasional thing
