You've got a taste for good Music! I don't know all these bands, but I like a good part of them! If I should do the same art with all my favourite bands, two pieces of paper would not be enough!

I happened to find the Amy icon funny, you know because she lost her clothes.

Glad you like this. I am quite the metal addict.

Awesome! I saw Def Leppard in December, they were emazing. Also, I was wondering if you were familiar with ChthoniC? They toured with Turisas and Kiuas in November and are suprisingly good.

I was not, actually. But I'm listening to them now and they're not too bad.

I generally will listen to any kind of metal that is not straight up black or death metal. I'll listen to Power, Thrash, Folk, Doom, Gothic, Stoner, etc.. But when it comes to black or death metal, I can only listen to stuff like this, or symphonic black like Limbonic Art, or Melodeath like Hollenthon. It has to sound like it has an actual beat and not something like Cannibal Corpse where everything is all about blast beats and sounding like a constipated pig trying to pass a huge turd.

I completely agree. ChthoniC are an exception,of course. My cousin once said about Cannibal Corpse that's it's like "Listening to a cacophony of fat gentlemen fart in sync and then stop in sync". I think it sums it up pretty well.

Power, Symphonic and Neo-Classical is where it's at though.

This one, I'll give, I only recognized a few. And I've only ever even heard Def Leppard songs. Gonna have to work on that, but I do have some suggestions. Particularly Lawnmower Deth and Chinchilla. Check 'em out.

Dropkick Murphys is another but they're on my 2nd mural.

This is why I like these murals, because there's always bands you don't know of out there and it also introduces people to new bands that are awesome.

These are just bands I enjoy. I have a bunch of friends that flood me with recommendations all the time, and when I hear something that's worth a listen, I want to share it with people. That is the intent of this mural.

Glad you like it

well, first off, how about using Facebook to find friends that listen to heavy metal? I mean we're out there, right?

The only problems I've found is a lot of them fap over death and black metal and expect you to do the same. Those two are my least favorite in general. plus, a lot of them get very anal over genres and they expect you to be able to tell all of them apart, which quite frankly I view as a waste of time when you can just, like me, enjoy the music.

But in spite of that, I know they can rec you a bunch of bands. Or you can just talk to me and a couple of my friends will hook you up.

Ah... well, I've got three murals full of bands you can scope out AND one of female-led metal you might enjoy also. there are some crossovers with the female-led but I have nearly 400 bands you can scope.

Pretty cool. Nice to see unexpect there. I'm very happy of their recent success .
Great to know some people haven't forgotten about Mercury Rain either. And Equilibrium rulllesssss!

I'll have to check out some of the bands on there, I don't know them all.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SteveHNo96 In reply to saralalah [2011-08-15 03:52:06 +0000 UTC]

It's ironic because Unexpect and MR came about because some guy was complaining to one of the groups that I would "Fap over anything fronted by a pair of tits", so I made a female-led mural just to irritate him. I listened to Mercury Rain and Unexpect for the first time while making the mural and thought "This is not bad at all".

As for Equilibrium, one of my friends is a big folk metal fanatic and he got me into a bunch of folk bands like Korplikaani, Crimfall, Dalriada and several others so I had to include them.

If you haven't seen my other three murals (two other favorite bands and one of all female-led metal), I encourage you to check it out.

saralalah In reply to SteveHNo96 [2011-08-15 14:45:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'll have to look at all three of them. I know a lot of the bands on the FFM one, but not all of them. The more, the better, right ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SteveHNo96 In reply to saralalah [2011-08-15 15:04:29 +0000 UTC]

precisely.

The female fronted one was the only one really done out of anger towards someone else. Until I made this third mural of favorites, I never really had a problem with it. By the time I got to mural #3 of favorite bands, it was more like "is this band listenable?".

The strange thing is that my friends have playlists that are long as hell. I listen to very little death or black metal, but even with that, these friends have like 700+ bands they could post on here. So when I started this, I got flooded with recs from these people. I'm just glad that I was able to put these together and maybe find a few more fans of these bands. It surprised me that these all came together so nicely.

Glad you like it, amigo. This was a little harder than the first two because I was actually spending several days doing research and listening to new bands to put on this one, but it was well worth it because I hope to give these lesser-known bands some much-needed PR.

Music has always been a word-of-mouth business.

Imagine, someone may spy a new name on these murals and suddenly they have a new favorite band.
