First things first!!!! Remove that chips envelope over there!!! XD

Second, I think the light of the picture is really good, you where able to catch the atention on the fave of the guy and to make the shapes look prety, specialy the profile and the eye.

Maybe for making it a little more complex you could overlay a texture layer, erasing it here and there, where it is not interesting to add texture (like in the face) but for the bg it could make it a little more dreamy, complex and interesting.

I like it..mixing the beautiful (the model) with the ugly (the bits of trash) and since they are just there hiding underneath him, a small percentage of the piece it makes a HUGE impact. You want to focus on the subject but those bits are THERE almost making fun of your eyes by saying "Im here..you can't get rid of me..I'm gonna ruin this pretty image"..it's very bold. You make a comparison of between this pic and world in your comment..I think it's even more significant how the model doesn't even notice what he is laying on..sort of the way we people don't notice or pay any mind to the trash around us..we just continue on smiling like it doesn't matter. Awesome pic!

I like this photo. I like the lighting and colors present.

As for the trash... I think it just makes the photo more realistic... more raw.

Sadly, it is more natural... This photo wasn't as "staged" because we do have litter all over...

The picture would definitely look better without the trash in it, but I really like the message you're trying to convey with it.
The picture is beautiful, and the trash kind of takes you out of it and is distracting. I think you did a good job in using it to prove your point.
