This was my Hallowe'en costume this year as the Crimson Ghost. The Crimson Ghost (1946) is a black & white movie serial with 12 chapters released by Republic Pictures. Starring Bud Geary as the Crimson Ghost in the costume, Isaac Stanford Jolley voicing the Crimson Ghost and [spoiler] Joseph Forte as the University Professor Parker revealed to be the Crimson Ghost at the end of the movie serial.

The Crimson Ghost mask was clearly based on Lon Chaney's Red Death skull mask and a crimson red robe in The Phantom of the Opera (1925) and the Crimson Ghost skull in the hooded robe look was based on the Grim Reaper skeleton in a hooded robe as seen in the Mickey Mouse cartoon short "The Haunted House" (1929) by Disney.

Cyclotrode X (1966) is scenes from The Crimson Ghost (1946) movie serial edited down to an hour and 40 minutes and re-released as a black & white movie in 1966 by Republic Pictures.

Glen Danzig and Jerry Only's Misfits band [named after Marilyn Monroe's The Misfits (1961) movie] released the "Horror Business" single (1979) by their indie label Plan 9 Records [named after Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)] with the Crimson Ghost from The Crimson Ghost (1946) and Cyclotrode X (1966) on the cover and started adopting the Crimson Ghost as their mascot for Misfits concerts, Misfits fan club Fiend Club, album covers and merchandise. Misfits band members Glen, Jerry and Jerry's brother Doyle started calling the Crimson Ghost "the Fiend" so they wouldn't be sued by Republic Pictures for copyright infringement.
