+the title is a joke: "Party at the Sad Bridge/ the Bridge to Chacao"The Public Works minister recently scrapped a project to build a hanging bridge that would connect the Chilean mainland to the island of ChiloΓ©, on the grounds that the building company who had been granted the project was exceeding the original budget in at least 50%. The bridge would connect the island at the city of Chacao, of course. a huge scandal arose, mainly because the bridge had been announced extensively by the last president in office. some claim the island is economically isolated and that the bridge is the only way in for progress, others point out that there are more pressing issues than a bridge that will allow the island's natural resources to be trucked away ruthlessly and put an end to its beauty and magic.
however, Chile's independence day is coming, and the wine and dance will begin... even in Chacao.

what a great piece...I absolutely love the converging roads, the grins too big for faces and the way you did the street lamps. The characters themselves are also great designs...The inverted eye colors are a great touch!

My very favourite part is the little broken cork-screw line connecting the two roads. Independance day looks like fun in Chile. I don't know if I want to party with them though, they could try and eat me. Meh, they're fun characters.

no hablare defendiendo al gobierno, pero si tratando de alejar esa mentalidad de "nos cagaron con el puente" tan de moda que pulula por estos dias.
de partida, el puente es construible, y se iba a copnstruir. el problema fue que no fue rentable debido que el presupuesto que el gobierno puso para ello(alrededor de 630millones de pesos) no alcanzo, puesto que el estudio entregado por la concesionaria arrojo que una obra de tal magnitud debia costar por lo bajo mas de 900millones de pesos, por lo bajo. claro, es aqui cuando salta la irracionalidad colectiva y se empieza a echar la putia' contra la presidenta y su sequito, argumentando de que la isla esta olvidada y todo eso. lo mismo pasa con el supuesto hospital de chiloe, el cual tambien es inviable debido a que la poblacion de la isla no alcanza para justificar la construccion de un hospital propio, por ende, se busca construir algo que al menos sirva para tratar mas casos locales y no depender tanto de puerto montt.
es cierto, un puente en chiloe seria una increible obra de ingenieria, pero pensemos que asi como un puente en el chacao podria contruirse, teniendo la plata, por que no poner uno tambien en el estrecho de magallanes, pues alla tambien llevan aΓ±os pidiendo uno.

+estoy de acuerdo contigo, pienso que se necesitaron cojones para afrontar la responsabilidad polΓtica de decir "el puente no va", y que gran parte de los reclamos son interesados. de todas maneras hay gente en la isla que estΓ‘ engrupida con los supuestos beneficios que el puente traerΓa, pero a largo plazo el panorama no es tan prometedor. es la naturaleza de las langostas, que llegan, arrasan con todo y se van.
