Description The virgin can't be captured in places made of stone.
Nor forced in these buildings to be her home

Doesn't dwell in their riches' and going up sky high.
Because of foolish pride countless workers had to die.

The injustice in this makes it for her an unpleasant and awkward stay
She doesn't love the stone, but awaits her groom to take her away.


This is an entry in the contest being run by "The place where I live".

What you see is the Munster church in Roermond with 2 white roses in the forground. I used the flash light to get the roses clear and I wrote the poem from the 26th to the 28th of May 2016. I hope you enjoy!

Very nice poem and photo.Β  It caused me to do some reading about the church and Roermond.Β  I assume you are talking about workers being killed in building the church.Β  I could not find anything about that, but I did find something interesting.Β  During Spanish rule, in 1613, 64 suspected "witches" were burned.Β  I don't think that made the Virgin happy either.

No, that didn't make the virgin happy either! I'm sure about that!
Basicly, I'm not just talking about building Munster Church, but every big building build out of foolish pride has been killing alot of workers... because of time presure, bad scaffolds, bad constructions...

yes, it's crazy. I live in the Netherlands, population is 17 million people, In 2016 over 52 people lost their lives in construction!
