I'll be honest, even though the G3.5 cartoons are too boring for me, I'd rather watch G3.5 Rainbow Dash than G4 RD. G4 RD is just too arrogant and annoying for my taste.

First of all, I didn't watch MLP AT ALL when I was a kid, so there's no nostalgia factor for me.
Secondly, I'm not stupid, I can see that G4 MLP is written for a general audience and not just little girls, with better developed and more varied characters. Too bad some people in the fandom aren't kind and understanding at all...
And thirdly, you can judge and insult me, but that won't make me like G4 Rainbow Dash. In fact, it will make me hate her even more.

G3 Fluttershy didn't appear in any cartoons as far as I know, but I see what you mean. She's just an earth pony who like to take photos of her friends. Her name is intended to be a pun.

She still pretty much is. There's confidence and then there's FiM Rainbow Dash. Firefly is showing confidence but she's still respectful. rainbow Dash spends at least half the season boasting.

I prefer early G3 Rainbow Dash more than the Core 7/G3.5 version. She was more of a cool big sister figure and wasn't a fashionista. Also she had that accent. In the G3 comics she actually had a tomboyish competitive streak. She actually wasn't that different in some ways to G4 Dashie.

Bad language aside, that's true.Β When you get past all the "Rainbows, dahlings!" and "Simply dashing!" mumbo-jumbo, G3 Rainbow was a lot nicer.Β I could see her as more the motherly figure of her group.Β She could represent wisdom to balance out Cheerilee's knowledge.

Being only 15 now... I grew up with G3. Sure, I may love G4 to death... but it sometimes just seems odd having grown up with the older versions and having all these new ones.... And sadly, I got rid of all my originalΒ toys when I grew out of them. What makes me angry about the whole thing though, is when an older version of a G4 pony is posted on here or tumblr or anywhere, the fans that only really started watching in G4 complain about how they look weird and that they should have the same distinguishing looks of the G4...
