I looked though the window. Fang and Max were talking and laughing, probably at me. At dinner I'd somehow managed to knock all of the pasta and sauce off of the counter. Not only had I been forced to remake dinner, but I'd looked stupid in front of everyone. Especially Fang.

About a year ago I had realized that I was in love with Fang. Even then I knew that Max and Fang were together and might be forever. I also knew that it was beyond hopeless, even if Fang wasn't with Max. It didn't matter, though; I just wanted Fang to be happy. If that meant that he and Max were going to be together, that's what it meant.

Apparently that wasn't what it meant, though. Fang stood up, glaring at Max, and took off. He landed on the roof and climbed through the hatch. He stomped to his room and I followed.

"Fang, what's wrong?" I asked, genuinely worried.

"I'm out of here. So out of here. That little… ugh!" He said quietly, obviously angry.

"What exactly did she say? Or do I want to know?"

"'Fang, I understand if you never want to see me again. I'm all right with that. You and I… you and me… us… Us isn't going to work out. There is nothing that we can do to change that. I'm sorry.'" He quoted her, probably exactly.

"Ugh." I mumbled in disgust. She wasn't sorry. If she were that sorry, she would have found a better way to tell him.

"Ig, you wanna tag along? I don't want to go out there alone and I'm not staying here." Fang asked, ready to jump.

A moment later, we were soaring though the air, off to wherever we were going. Wherever we ended up, even if he never felt the same way, at least we were together.
