How you pick shade color. How shade. What do.

wellllll i looked at references and tested around with colors that were similar to the birds color pallete for this one aha, i think i used some sort of yellow/orange tint for the shade and blue and yellow for the highlights

Ah! You switch. Most use blue for shade, and orangy yellow for highlight. It depends upon the time of day, though. I've noticed at twilight the shadows are a lil more blue than they are at midday.

ooh, that's it. I make up the atmospheres a lot and get a feel for what I think looks good based upon what I do. Hmm, that's an interesting observation!
