This is friggin great! Though I have to ask... What's up with Zuda? Why is it that I can't see past page 8 of any of the comics up there?

stplmstr In reply to ChazzK [2009-03-21 08:07:19 +0000 UTC]

Because only one of the 10 that are in each month are givin a deal and continued on. The rest or sorta stillborn ideas that don't go any farther. But I am glad ya liked this

Don't un fav them some people have kept their comics going outside of zuda and they had a revival round last year so maybe if they do it again people with more favs will have a chance to do more on their comic.

This is crazy, man...

Aside from a technical standpoint (you've some great skill), I really love this kind of charadesign, as well as the smart 2-colors scheme...

Amazing stuff.

SQUEEEE!!! ZOMBEHS!

Though opposed to running corners hysterically I think it's more common for writers to make women trip and fall all the fucking time. It's a real forehead slapper imo.

Need to finish reading the Survival Guide. With economic collapse in the works, who knows. One should always be prepared for sudden outbreaks.

It seems to be going that way in the economic sense. Most zombie comics start either pretty calmly before the outbreak, or all hectic in the middle of trouble. So I wanted to try and depict a calm confident couple of characters in the middle of the choas

Again with the coloring. LOVE IT.

Your comics are great. They always have been. You just got a certain PIZZAZ for it. Or is it pizazz?

It's a flair. You got flair. And it's all natural.

But I think I understand why this didn't do as well as your second entry. I'm not sure what feedback you got with Zuda readers....but honestly? The less-than-perfect-success isn't your fault:

I think that we can mutually agree that if there isn't an explosion of the visual sense, or dialogue sense, that tells us immediately what this story is about within the first two panels, that most readers with the attention span of a gnat would lose interest in this from the get-go. Unfortunately, it seems that a great deal of readers fall under that general category. I know that Zuda provides a section where you can write the background/plot for the story you're showcasing, but perhaps they had a different expectation upon reading the blurb: zombies, zombies, brain eating, shotgun blasts, zombies...oh and some more zombies and a few gnawed off limbs. For 8 pages. As ~Sebbythefreak says, "And the 'zombie apocalypse' sinks in slowly as the mood sets."

Sure, you had a few typographical errors. You used slang that may/may not be familiar with the greater audience you're entertaining.

In other words...?

It's the audience that, well, let you down. My opinion is that I think that this comic would have been well-appreciated once you had ESTABLISHED an audience that is already very familiar with your work. No question. And for some of us, zombie apocalypse plotlines NEVER get old. Again--this has to do with your "fanbase", your audience.

I love this teaser, and I'm really glad that despite it wasn't a huge success on Zuda, it didn't dishearten you from trying again. Best of luck!

I love this type of monochromatic colouring. I do it mahself.

Dig it. There's a few typos but overall it's great! And the "zombie apocalypse" sinks in slowly as the mood sets. Excellent pacing.

Both of these are really great!
I really like the blue and purple in this one, and the robot's expressions in the second one.
