Glad to see that superb bowler make a reappearance. Also love that shoulder rig!

The Pinkerton Detective Agency was in many ways a huge contributing factor to the birth of modern crime fighting. They had a lot of methods that were cutting edge for their time, such has having intelligence networks, crime scene investigators and a central "database" of files on various bandits and fugitives. They could in many ways be seen as a forerunner of the FBI.

They did a lot of good and a lot of bad but are still played a major point in how we do intelligence and private contractors.

Indeed! I think they had a lot to do with changing the idea of how we do law enforcement. In the 1800s, the very idea of police was only a few decades old. The police in London, UK were the first to be organized by the reforms of Sir Robert Peel, and his ideas were considered revolutionary at the time. Even under Peel's direction, policing was extremely unscientific and relatively disorganized; it was mostly big burly constables patrolling around with sticks looking for bad stuff going down and blowing their whistle to summon back up if they saw a crime in progress. Catching criminals was a matter of catching them in the act and laying hands on them, for the most part. The idea of an intelligence network and centralized filing system of dossiers on major criminals was unheard of until the Pinkertons.
