I've been staking out this fox den all summer with very little success. I've seen them for fleeting moments, but nothing worth shooting. The kits are big now, getting ready to set out on their own before. Two days ago they spent time outside the den for the first time, so I was finally able to get a few shots. One is much bolder than the other, and it was a pleasant surprise to see both kits.

It was wonderful to have my hard work pay off; very often it doesn't - wildlife photography is always a gamble. Now I'm sitting in the airport in Denver, getting ready to move to the Midwest for grad school. This literally was my last shot at capturing the foxes. It really wasn't a bad way to end my time in Colorado, although I wish it didn't have to end.
