1.If you'r looking for money then sell a page of three different outfits of the same kind.
2.If you want to sell a single outfit then selling it should depend on how much detail is in it.
3.You should sell each Separately.
4.People like to see a wide verity to choose from so do however many styles you can.
5.If you'r doing outfits from characters and are changing them then just say so and you won't have to put the original.
6.Water color would be best since it will make them pop and is eye catching.

I don't know if this might explain it to you:
But I think it's so popular because of what people are doing (the same thing I'm doing now..)
They're looking for some inspiration and type in ''clothes", they search around a little and see your drawing, with a lot of details that looks interesting even as a thumbnail, they click it to clearly see the details. And apparently, they like what they see.
It's your talent mixed with people's lack of inspiration that makes it so popular. At least, that's what I think.

Well, wikipedia is a good start, but if you enter in searches with those keywords in images you could get a good spread. I'm no expert, i used various references and also made things up.

I'd say charge a higher price for full sets of styles for the outfits
and same thing with A B C D
and the obvious classic selling idea of sell single outfit dolls

I'm afraid I'm very low-tech...there's no trick to it. But in another way, that just means it's fun and easy for everyone!
Draw your doll or dolls in a natural position that will look good with different types of clothing. Trace the body over and over again and change the face if you want more than one characer. Same goes with the clothes--just draw over the basic shape, keeping it pretty close to the original form so your doll won't look too big. If you use tabs to keep the clothes on, just make sure they'll stay when they fold over. A good idea would be to have them "hang" off the shoulders and wrap around the waist, with the hips. below stopping them from slipping. If you have a computer program that can do fast copies, obviously that's a way to go too.

Ummm, well, I just draw clothing offhandedly for fun. There should be some more fashion-based deviations in my gallery/scraps, but if you just run a search for clothes or fashion on DA, you'll get some amazing results.
