Description
A5 (4x6 in) sketch I did yesterday. I'm trying to get through a lot of characters I have -shamefully- not drawn yet. Suggestions are welcome!Related content

I think this is strong. But it can be stronger, in my humble opinion. There are some anatomy issues in the forearms. The muscles can be further defined through shadows or artificial greys. More striations in the muscles can convey more effort. The light source is not clearly defined enough. for example, it looks like you have a top light, but his abdomen, which is hidden by his head, is lit. Also, the type is not very "incredible." It's actually kind of awkward and a little kid friendly. If you make it look less like it's rumbling and more like it's cracking and breaking from the impact of the blow to the ground that would make more of an impact. As it is, there are mixed messages. The type conveys 'rumble" but the ground is breaking under the fist that is hitting it. The cracking and breaking is more impactful than a rumble. This is all my own opinion, though, and I think that these changes are minor, but can make a strong image even stronger. Good job!

Thanks for the most excellent feedback. All points duly noted and hard to disagree with. This was a small sketch done on a coach with about 40 kids high on sugar! But yes all your points stand nonetheless and I'll keep them in mind for my bigger sketches. Thanks for taking the time to give feedback, really appreciate it.

i've started doing quicker less polished sketches. find them less intimidating to start. got an Iron-man in the works... just go for it man.
