Edit: She's not Namine! I have a thing for blonde hair and white summer dresses. But hey, what ever floats your boat!This picture was inspired by pokemon.
No really, haha.
When I was little, my mom bought me a small sized plushy of Dratini. And I can say that I loved that damn thing up until I was nine when I lost it. Not to mention Dratini is my favorite Pokemon! ^__^ But yeah, I was re-watching some Pokemon episodes, and thought it's be nice to dedicate one image to my lost plush. (Btw, Firefox says that I spelled Pokemon wrong, so when I right clicked it, it capitalized Pokemon. How kewl is that, Pokemon is registered in Firefox's database xD)
What's happening is a bit cheesy. Haha, a girl falling from the sky, summons her trusty snake-dragon thing to rescue her! The beast's scales are actually made of petals. So nu, those petals aren't there just for the heck of it! xD

While you were inspired from Pokemon (specifically Dratini, who was also one of my old faves plus Jigglypuff & Vulpix mwahaha) I was immediately reminded of FFX, the Aeon, Valefor

I really admire the way you drew the scales on the front... I won't say it looks realistic exactly, rather... I believe "magical" would be an accurate word. Their regularity and translucency... You can almost see them move!
There's certainly nothing wrong with being inspired by Pokemon, especially if you end up with something that cool. But the drawing actually reminds more of Miyazaki's "Spirited Away", with the dragon's swift walking in the air.
the way you drew the girl's hair is amazing as well. The way it's flying, it looks like the summoning implied a mini tornado, which would also explain the shape of the clouds. Or the dragon is doing it by moving in circle... Either way, it all looks great.
The necklace is a nice touch to the girl's ordinary looks. I wonder if it was made out of the dragon's scales?
Oh and if the girl is not Namine and the drawing was inspired by Pokemon, it could as well be Yellow from "Pokemon Special", only without a ponytail.

Haha, honestly. I get a vision in my head, at any random time of the day, and I try my fastest to get that onto paper, and I just create the character design along the way. (I have..uh, a thing for blonde's and white summer dresses.) Thank you for your kind words!
