nice lighting. it created beautiful shadown over the skin. abstract, yes. looks like a landscape almost. sand dunes. i want to imagine camels marching across, but that would kill the serious aim wouldn't it.

Ladies are nice and all, but I'm glad to find some photography like this focusing on the male form. I don't think theres enough of it and you've done some lovely work, not just with this shot, but the others as well. I'm espically enamored with the shadows you've managed. I can never get those quite right.

this is beautiful
i love the abstraction of this shot an the way the lighting is soft and harsh and still brings out the masculine-ness of the shot
i've always wanted to photograph male shapes, but have yet to find a willing model and not to mention any knowledge on lighting indoor shots

My favorite of the three for whatever reason. I don't know, I just really dig the angle of this one. Excellent use of light and shadows. Composition is rock solid. Just a great piece of work.

You get the feeling of stretching with this one, but little else. It isn't quite as dynamic as Max Elemental 3 (my personal favorite). I think it's the fact that it takes up such a small ammount of space in the picture area and it's along the bottom at a rather shallow angle. Lighting is bright, but a little timid. Doesn't have your usual multi-colored aspect to it. If you were going for a nice, calm feeling to this, you got it. I'm not sure though, seems more like you wanted a hint of energy in this series.

I can't understand why this would lack for comments and favs
it is an extraordinary exercise in lighting. The way you have captured the surface texture of the model's skin, composed it in such a way I'm struggling to orient which bit of his body it is, but still managing to convey a masculine strength....all just marvellous
can I ask what lights and filters you used to get such an interesting tone? it's almost purplish on my laptop monitor

I've had people ask me why I draw/paint/sculpt women more than men, seeing as how I'm straight, and really ought to like men more...that's another discussion entirely...but the points that come up in those conversations illustrated for me that for most people, the female form is more aesthically pleasing than the male. Is it because we're taught from a young age that ladies are pretty and men are strong?
Anyway, back to the art....as always your light is fantastic, and the image is a standout amongst your recent work. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.

i really like it.. u captured the beauty of his body down to the littlest detail, yet made it mysterious in a way.. excellent. leaves ur mind wandering, wanting to see more.. possibly drooling over him lol

I don't think its bad and should have more views. Its a bit unfair I think that us guys don't get as much attention as the girls, oh well. I looked through the other comments and personally I think its pretty obvious what part of the body it is even in your journal. Anyway I also wanted to say it remindes me of those bowflex commercials. Then again I understand that femininity is just very sexually, its very close to the same for me at least.

I'm not a big fan of the male form, but what you've done here is really fabulous.

Oh, this is very aesthetic! I really like it! The lack of smoothness, the shadows and contours, the professionalism. Great lightning, colour and contrast settings!

I love the male form. Unfortunately very few portray it well and it seems to always result in some level of cheesiness but through your exceptual technique of drawing down to the elemental nature of people you've once again (and again.. and again) impressed me with your ability to illuminate the beauty often overlooked.
This shot is so deeply profound, in that it accentuates his obvious muscle tone but also lends itself to resembling a rough terrain with it's hills and valleys. It seems fitting this area is around his shoulders and arms, one that generally carries our tension and stresses, the weight of the world for lack of a better cliche. It reminds me of atlas, a perfect model of strength and endurance.
Absolutely gorgeous.

I look forward to seeing the rest of this series. I love the abstractness of the shot. The way the ripples of muscle catch the light are so different than the soft, smoothness of light you would see on the female form.
