Dude, this piece is so amazing.. Maybe you're just pursuing the wrong thing. You should really try adapting your work into paint. Your style would translate brilliantly into paint. If you did this stuff really big, and in color, people would flip out! I'm trying to save up money to get paint supplies, because I feel the same way about my own work. Little drawings don't really have a demand out there, but people love paintings!*is trying to convince himself too* I'm definately gonna start making band designs again because I got a trial version of photoshop,and just purchased a tablet!

thanks, my very first deviantart submission was poster size, it was just about a year ago. recently ive been experimenting with stamps, taking things with nice patterns on their surfaces, and putting ink on them. im not a master at it yet, but when i get better i hope to add it to my style.
i could never loose pen altogether, ive spent three years with it and it has a special place in my heart.
what i really want to do is do posters, and do work that is awesome on many levels, which is very difficult. something that you can glance at and like, stare at for a minute, and like, and spend hours poring over the details and like. im not there yet. if i put the detail i have now into a poster size drawing it could be stared at for hours, but nobody really would, they would skip over it because it would just look gray.
when i improve my sharpie skills,and i have this stamp thing really going, ill probably do a poster size. the other problem with poster size drawings is scanning them, so when i finally do it it probably wont look as good.
and then theres school too, school is a bitch, it drains me.
you definitely have band potential, good luck, im not sure i do tho...
as far as paintings go im not so sure, in fact im not even really sure that im an artist, im just a kid that likes to draw. ive never been shopping for art supplies, i use regular printer paper, usually regular office pens.

Not sure that you're an artist!? HMPH! That's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard! You're a very talented artist! Maybe when you get some art classes you'll realize that!! and getting around other artist is good too
I understand what you mean about being attached to your favorite media, but you'll eventually get to a point where you'll want to expand. I'm not saying phasing out the pen entirely, and doing all paint, I think mixed medias would be best for you, but that's just my opinion.
You really should go to an art supply store. At least get a sketchbook and some nice drawing pens(microns are my favorite)

well being an artist has always been a very scary thing for me, with so many consequences and expectations to go with it. as i get better, hopefully more people will view me as an artist, but i will be the very last person to do this. the pressure is just too much, being creative and pressure arent friends. at this point, the second i start using expensive materials, paper, or things that are in limited quantity, i change.
on the positive side, this assures that all my art is accessible, anybody could do it. thats a very comforting thought too, especially considering im a huge "fan" marcel duchamp and guy dubord
ive been working on my stamps with what ever time i have left, they just arent good enough to be uploaded
as far as paint goes, i just dont really like things that arent completely flat.
also, im learning music composition, even though this doesnt have much to do with visual art, im hoping itll give me some sort of edge

Yeah, there are expectations that you feel the need to live up to, but isn't there with anything that you choose to pursue? You just can't let that kind of thing get to you and affect your art. You do great work! Just hold onto that! It'll never go away unless you stop entirely..

I think the rest of the piece looks great,but I guess the rainbow does round it all out,and brings everything together. Great work again

thanks, i really liked the drawing pre rainbow too, its just the overall shape was a bit lacking. the details were some of my best, but i doubted anybody would look much closer at it the way it looked before, basically it missed a hook. im starting to realize i have some trouble drawing hooks, which is probably why im having a bit of trouble on my tshirt drawings

Yeah, hooks can be tricky. With visual art, and in music. But I've found the best way to improve your hook skills is to study up on them, and practice practice practice. I've gotten alot better at singing catchy things this way
