For Grell´s dirndl, red was a must. I´ve seen many gorgeous red dirndl, and most of the time they´re paired up with black (black blouses or pattern). So I went for that here as well. Also, no floral pattern but rather a Victorian one.
For the hair - you know I love to give Grell new hairstyles, and braids fit best with dirndl. As he´s facing the viewer I went for braids you also seem from that perspective.
Also - the cute look was planned. I cannot for the love of God see him go into full vroom-vroom crazy mode in that outfit.

aber die Schleife auf der rechten Seite bedeutet normalerweise
Vergeben/Verheiratet/Verlobt, links steht für noch zu haben.
Wolltest du es mit Absicht so darstellen oder hast du von diesen
mysteriösen Brauch noch nichts gehört?

Dirndl sind schon etwas toles obwohl ich mir meins erst dieses Jahr kurz vor dem Oktoberfest gekauft habe. Nach der Aussage meiner Freundin ist als Bayer ein muss ein Dirndl zu besitzen .--.

I am absolutely in love with Grell's dress! 
Grell's outfit is so adorable, it's almost easy to forget the background--I really like it. Maybe it's because green and red compliment each other so nicely, but the picturesque scenery really adds a sense of tranquility here.
Taking your comments in mind, I can't picture Grell going nuts in this outfit either, and really why should he? To me, this picture is more like, "Grell's got the day off, the weather's lovely and Grell's dressed lovelier, so why not relax and enjoy it?"

I wanted to draw Grell in a Dirndl for quite some time - I study in Germany, and during a lunch break a co-student and I went to try on some Dirndl just for fun (I ended up purchasing mine, lol). She tried an adorable black and red ensemble; the dress itself was red, the blouse black and the apron semi-transparent with black polka dots on it. She looked like a ladybug! That was the initial design I had in mind for Grell, but then we went to Bavaria and I saw some really expensive ones and went for that look.
Who would have thought he´d look so adorable in one of these?

I like Grell's best. Mainly because from head to toe this is the kind of outfit I would die to wear. And it doesn't look like a dirndl. Okay, that might not come off as a compliment when I say it like that, but I mean it looks more like a dress you could wear every day than a national piece of clothing and that's another reason I would want that. I could wear it a lot. The shoes are nice too and the necklace - I'll have that too - thank you. And the bow in the hair. Although that hairstyle makes me personally look way too childish. I look 12 with it. I wore it in a movie once & I looked years younger than I did on the day before XD Also - red & black are my favorite colors so I love it for that reason as well

The point is - a dirndl may appear as a piece of national clothing, but it´s meant to be worn every day.
Of course there are also more formal dirndl - we were having lunch at a hotel where they had a wedding reception, and all of the female guests were wearing dirndl. There are even wedding dirndl out there.
But many wonen down there wear them on a daily basis.
There are a variety of hairstyles ou can wear with those, so go nuts. XD
