when i was there, i found better times. (1976,77and1980). alwais when i see pictures like this i remember my afghan friends and all this lovely people i met and then i wanna cry. it was not only a different time, it wa a different world.

Yes, it is a very sad thing. Β You can still see whispers of that world, what is was before three decades of stupid war. Β Sometimes you can even see what it could be if the people could be made free. Β
To me this kid is AfghanistanΒ . Β
Poor and dirty and scared, doing the wrong things; but also clever, and brave, and beautiful. Β A young face with old eyes. Β Such a careful balance, a tiny push one way or the other right now can make him a hero or a monster someday. Β I fear we are pushing the wrong way.
