Description In the deserts of Northern Mexico you can find large open deserts that once were the floor of the ocean. Through centuries of 120 degree heat the earth had baked and cracked.

FULL VIEW IS A MUST.

No one has checked the subsurface for rare Earth minerals?

Probably not.  I know that they tap steam out of the ground near there.

The cracks make it look like a jig-saw puzzle, love those things, I do like the Black and White it does look good, but i wish i could see some of the rich colors of the dirt as well. ya know? Or even the different watered down colors of the heat waves? i'm not sure what to call them.

But yes the B&W do give it a nice touch...i would like maybe to see some of your others with color?

Good work.

It's amazing how these can stretch for miles. I don't want to be lost in the middle of that with no water!

Especial with all of the critters that hide in the cracks, and the fact that these days that part of northern Mexico is over run with drug and human traffickers.

very nice. the b&w flattern it a lot. I like how his back is bare, exposured to the sun. However, could be better if you didn't include the sky. It would make the cracked ground seem endless and give a better effect

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SwordOfScotland In reply to TaliN07 [2006-03-23 04:29:42 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps if I had more of an elevated angle and less sky it would create that affect. I think all I was thinking about at the time was how vunerable and desolated a human being could be alone and waterless in a desert like this.

Wow, this is quite amazing. I'd like to know what it's like hopping across those gaps, and how deep they go? I'll be sure to travel to Mexico to check these out; I'm quite intrigued by natural phenomena such as this (well, we scientists have a tendency to be like that, haha).

P.S.

It can get tiring jumping from one to another. They are 6'' to 18' deep, and harbor rattlesnakes, scorpions, gila monsters, and tarantulas.

If you ever do come to this area, you will need a guide and an interpreter. Look me up. They know me in all the cantinas, and my picture is in all of las estaciones de policia.

Thanks. I really had fun with this shoot. I must have shot five rolls. I just kept making him walk from one point to another, because there were so many western looking places, like out of the movies.
