Today I was helping at a local bird ringing station, this was a great opportunity to take some birdshots that would otherwise have been quite impossible.

those birds are so wonderful ^^ I think everyone in my country know them but very few have seen them... I saw one about a week ago but it was just a blue tennis ball-sized bullet flying just over the surface of nearby river XD

You could afford to bring your Iso down to 200 and slow your shutter a bit.
It might help with some loss of detail.
But it is a great shot

True, but this was a unique opportunity and I didn't want to take a risk .
Also, it is difficult to change camera settings while holding an impatient bird in your hand
