Description Just something I threw together to showcase a new sprite I had created for a special project/story I hope to reveal eventually... one day.

One of my favorite Sci-Fi stories is the H.G. Wells classic "The War of the Worlds", with it's quintessential villains the Martian Invaders. With their deadly Tripod Walkers the 'War' is less of a War and more along the lines of "Pest Control". And over the years the dastardly Martians have made numerous subsequent appearances in various books, movies, video games and TV shows. They've come up against or tussled with just about EVERY literary and comic hero imaginable (Sherlock Holmes, Superman, the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, one of the Marvel multiverse worlds, etc.), and through various 'sequels' have made many repeated attempts to squash us pitiful humans.

One story/project I am definitely looking forward to seeing is that "Goliath" animated movie.

So yeah... anyway... I took some Metal Slug sprites and threw them all together and edited the crap out of them to come up with this take on the iconic 'Tripod'. Took some design cues from that XBLA 'Prince of Persia'-esque game that came out recently. It's a pretty cool take on the story... AND has Patrick Stewart narrating.

Hope it looks good. And hope to have more of said idea/project done soon so I can show you all.

And to think, all they really needed to ensure their victory over humanity was better health care! XD

well some versions of the martians ATE humans, so that's probably the problem right there.

Really cool homage my friend!
I love the original movie! But not so with the remake with Tom Cruise.

I liked the sound effect of the green beams in the original which was reused as the photon torpedoes in Star Trek
