This image is part of a series based on a small religious group that existed in France back in the middle ages. That was until the Roman Catholic Church decided they posed a threat (ie they belived in something "different") and were hunted down and slaughtered by the Inquisition. Most were burned at the stake. Guilty of being "Heretics"....

Yes, this image is part of a series. The true horror of the image is based in its historical "truth". This is what the Inquisitors of the middle ages did to those who did not hold their beliefs....
