Description A short backside story of the painting is His name was Abbaas which means a Brave Lion. And so valourous, wise, loyal, and handsome did Abbas grow that till this day, in addition to earning immortal fame as Qamar-e-Bani Hashim or Moon of the Hashemite Clan, he is known as the Epitome of Fealty and Fidelity, for standing firm and steadfast beside his elder brother Husaen (a), even if it cost him the loss of both his hands, an arrow in the eye, a blow of the mace on the head, and eventually his life. The loss of limbs and life, however, did not pain the lion, but what broke his heart was the arrow that pierced the goatskin water-carrier and spilled the water he had fetched from the River Euphrates after a gallant fight with the dastardly enemy, for the thirsty children and women in the camp of his brother.

Well correct me if I am wrong but abbas means `Akhmo` or someone who frowns alot in old arabic. Since when did it turn to brave lione? There are barely any lion in arabia, and Abbas and Assad have to etymoligical roots.Β

No problem dear. I think you're talking about the word "Amm" which in Arabic means Uncle. In Arabic, it can also be translated into Zaigham (ΨΆΫŒΨΊΩ…), Asad (Ψ§Ψ³Ψ―) or Abbas (ΨΉΨ¨Ψ§Ψ³) like we, in Urdu, call it (شیر) lion. Secondly, title Asad'ul Allah (Lion of Allah) is there for Prophet Muhummed (s)'s cousin brother Ali (a).Β

No I was talking about From Abbas which comes from the root verb ΨΉΨ¨Ψ³ (ΚΏΓ‘basa), and that means to frown. The word Abbas itself in Arabic Dictionaries means:Β

Β  Β  1.grim, glowering, frowning, stern, scowling, surly
Β  Β  2.glum, gloomy, sulky, sullen

Unfortunately as far as I know there is no Arabic dictionary which indicates the etymology but I still fail to see how Abbas and lion are connected.Β
