Howlers are one the very few mammalian dragons in the world. Measuring in at about two feet in height, they are among the smallest breeds of dragon, but like any dragon, they can be dangerous under the right circumstances. Primarily nocturnal pack hunters, Howlers act more as scavengers rather than predators, following larger predators around and waiting for them to finish their meal before leaping in. Howlers get their name from the intense screams and cries they can unleash, using the vents on their throat to amplify their calls. As mentioned above, despite their small size and tendency to scavenge, Howlers CAN be a larger threat than they appear. If forced to hunt, or faced with small enough prey, the pack will surround their target, allowing the largest members top leap onto their prey. These hunters will hook into the target with their large toe claw, before viciously shredding into the target with their teeth and claws.

Because of their abundant numbers and proximity to human settlements, Howlers are viewed as vermin and threats and are hunted down to thin their numbers or to deal with dangerous packs.
