Description
Buda Castle (Budavári Palota in Hungarian, Burgpalast in the German of the Austrio-Hungarian kings) exists since the 13th century. This image shows the Cour d'Honneur (or Lions Court - Oroszlános udvar - for obvious reasons). The feline is by Fadrusz János. Not visible, on the right, is the National Library (see below for a picture). Facing is the Historical Museum (again not visible). The focus of the image is a roccoco-style facade built by Franz Anton Hillebrandt under Maria Theresa (in the 1760s), which is now the entry to the National Gallery.
