Visually, Saffron has purple eyes, blonde hair and unhealthily pale skin (often with bags under her eyes due to her constant lack of sleep). Her hair is very long, reaching to the floor when down. She likes to keep it out of the way in either a braid or (generally lopsided) ponytail. She has an omamori in the shape of a kimono she always keeps with her (this specific omamori is a sort of amulet actually intended to be placed under one’s pillow to encourage pleasant dreams…).

Saffron cares very little about her appearance and rarely ventures past her bedroom door. On the few occasions she does, it is generally to take out the garbage, check the mail, or get groceries (often only when she has become incapable of stomaching the mixture of whatever odds and ends her kitchen contains).

This sequestered lifestyle allows her the freedom to reach an ever higher degree of laziness in her dress, which often results in her making it as far as underwear and maybe even a sweater, but certainly not pants. Her socks, however, are the singular piece of quotidian clothing to captivate her interest. As such she owns many pairs of many shapes and patterns (although most are tabi) and wears them on a more regular basis than any other piece of clothing.

Her favorite, and most indulged in, hobby is sleeping, closely followed by reading and researching mythology/folktales/fairytales, especially those from Japan. In turn, this interest in historical Japan pushed her to study classical Japanese and caused a budding interest in Japanese (historical) clothing to blossom. She loves wearing kimono, especially vintage furisode, although she finds clothing from the Heian and Edo periods the most interesting to study (but somewhat less practical for wearing purposes—especially jyuunihitoe). She also really likes geta and wonders why European footwear can’t be equally practical… (all of those laces—and don’t even get her started on heels! An average person probably spends days of their life just tying their shoes…).

Saffron enjoys anime such as Mononoke, Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu, and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Her life isn’t purely indulging in her interests—or even mostly, as she spends much of her time working—working from home (more specifically a studio apartment with a bathroom) writing C++. She often suffers from sleep depravation and spends her days off (ha) sleeping. She is seemingly serious to the point it is difficult to tell when she’s kidding (if ever…). Saffron is drawn to expensive things…
