Description This is the 4th coat I made, though the 1st one exclusively made for a woman costume. Red wool and grey striped linen. It is entirely lined, thus entirely reversible. Inner seams machine sewn, outside seams (all the edges) hand sewn.
This coat is the last piece of a full viking costume order. The customer bought the fabric from the multi-period market of Pontoise, France. I have made the sleeves a little bit longer than usual so that the cuffs can be turned to show the lining. I quite enjoyed making this coat although I disagree with the colours choice, I think they are too modern for a period coat. The customer was however very pleased with it, and she intends to wear it everyday as a normal coat.

I love it. But if not red wool and grey striped linen, what would you recommend for a more period coat?
