The charms actually have 2 uses, according to the original movies:
1. They allow Taoist Sorcerers to control corpses, especially in transporting them home. In old Chinese folk traditions and beliefs, burial in a foreign place was believe to make the soul homesick, as well as have adverse effects on the surviving family members. However, the method described here often is the prelude to the plot of the old movies, leading to the below.
2. They are used to surpress out-of-control Jiangshi, which may or may not work, depending on the accumulated power the Jiangshi has (an ancient, 300 year old Jiangshi can occasionally overpower a charm. A freshly turned one will stay put).

A Jiangshi eh? Just like Darkstalkers' Lei Lei and one character from Shaman King. They aren't quite like zombies and traditional vampires from what I remember. Aren't they corpses reanimated by magical tags affixed to their foreheads?
Overall, I like the color coordination in this one.
