Backstory:
  Almira grew up in Northern Europe, traveling from the Alps into the forests of Germany, Austria, etc. She at times disguised herself as a human and learned the languages and cultures of the countries around her. ( WW1 began: 1914) During WW1 (1916) her family stowed her and her bear cub away on a French ship departing to America. She lived in many a town, usually small places in the middle of the US, away from his hustle of the city.
When World War Two began Almira decided she'd take part in the fight, as the first World War had pushed her out of her homeland. Glamoured as a young human male, she departed for France and joined their military. When France was taken over by Germany she used another glamour to disguise herself as another man. She then fought for Russia after Germany invaded the country, breaking the their non-aggression pact. (1941) She fought in the battle of Stalingrad ( Volgograd ). After the Nazi's surrender in 1945 she moved back to the US. She made herself a little cabin the the woods beside Indieville and found her bear once more. She's lived there ever since.

~ Almira is quite the skilled magician, but she rarely uses her gifts for anything more than small household tasks
