Description
This is actually a rework of an image I made in October 2013 as a way to measure my improvement over the last two and a half years. I hope you enjoy it!The orbs are glowing fruit from the trees and they hang in clusters. The light is just strong enough to allow small blades of a mossy grass to grow. The tree’s foliage is very thick and next to no light makes it to the under-story, leaving the fruit as the only source of light under the canopy!

Bramble's right! This is absolutely stellar Miss Twist! Though I must say, while the change in perspective adds so much to the piece, praise must also be given to the amount of technical improvement! I mean the difference in texture, lighting, and even color choice, it's something to be extremely proud of!

It's no trouble, Miss Twist! Really? That's great news! It certainly belongs there! It's a gorgeous piece in both its concept and its execution. I can honestly say I don't think I've ever seen anything like it and they're going to love the foreshortening!

Haha, yeah. Digital painters I feel sometimes, unfairly, get the short end of the stick. A friend of mine in class for example is an absolutely stellar digital painter. She's way beyond her years and if I didn't know any better I would have thought she would have been already working in the concept art field. She submitted one of her best pieces to scholastic and it only received an honorable mention where as three my traditional works, which I feel was of less quality, got gold. It's frustrating to say the least. Though from my understanding most AP graders are teachers in that field. So if they are assigned to grade 2D portfolios I would assume they at least some experience working with Photoshop kids and hope they know that computers can't do all that work that for you.

Awww poor girl )): I feel for her. My art teacher had done some ap grading in years past and he said that generally if the grader doesn't understand what all went into making the piece, they'll grade it higher rather than lower just in case.
I got asked to design a logo for my whole school so I was in a graphic imaging class room and the teacher was talking to me. I showed him my latest digital painting and he was like oh I see you're good at feathering! And I was like. ...? I painted this. From scratch. And he was Surprised and such, but still the fact that he couldn't recognize it as something actually made and not just photoshopped was disheartening.

That's certainly comforting news! It must be really nice to have a former grader in the room from which to ask questions. She must have great insight into the process!
Wow! That must be a huge honor, best of luck with the logo! Really? I honestly can not see where in the world he got the impression of feathering. You let your brushstrokes show and there is no mistaking any of the pieces for a photograph. That certainly is a little disappointing. Perhaps he just couldn't see the strokes if the image you showed him was on a small screen?

Nothing all too interesting really XD Since I only have two months before I have to take four AP tests and the ACT I have just been studying like a mad mare this past weekend. How about with you?

That's two whole months! You'll be fine, ap tests really aren't that bad. I had 4 last year and 4 again this year. I even had two that were back to back last year where when I finished one, the next one started with no time for lunch in the middle.
I've been doing lots of stuff, just trying to keep busy and have a good time haha

Haha, I suppose. It's just got me a bit nervous is all. Psych, Studio, Lang, and Government shouldn't be a problem. It's just AP Chemistry that has my stomach in a knot. They recently updated the test and well... that class hasn't exactly been kind to my self-confidence. Still, if I don't pass at least I can take comfort in that I won't be the first or the last to do so. c;

Aah yeahh, well as long as you give it your best shot,there's not much more for you to do. If you dual enrolled and get a good grade in the class, you should be covered.

Wow! That's really cool! I'm glad to hear you enjoy it as well! If I could have I would have loved to take german, giving that I'm technically of german decent, but I could never seem to get the accent right. XD

Aah yeahh...I actually went to Germany and Austria a couple summers ago which was a blast. And we have a German exchange student in our class which helps us with pronunciation and stuff

Very dynamic~ My favorite change you made to the original was the vantage point. All of the other elements are great improvements, but together they still fall short of the impact a simple change in perspective makes.
