The really like this...But the ring system is bothering me..since this is a close up shot from the rings, shouldn't the dust, rocks and chunks of ice (what rings are basically made of) be visible? Kinda something like this? -> [link] ?

Depends largely on the rings. Most rings are actually not "big chunks" of rocks and ice, but rather fine dust and small particles. And even though this is a "close up", it's still taken from a very very large distance even from the near side of the ring.

Then there are of course rings with larger boulders and stones, here for instance: [link]

Awwww...well, this IS extraordinary. ;D I am loving how you painted the circular centers on the planet, as well as the rings and the overall atmosphere on the planet. The background also works so beautifully, especially the distant star.

the rock texture in the bg is pretty obvious, throws me off a little. But it's a very nice piece nontheless. Loving the rings

Can't but agree. Sloppy background, must fix that.

You sure don't see very many 1:1 images, they can be tough to compose well. This is pretty good, i think its just a few tiny steps away from being real good ... so, you know, once you get back into the groove I'm gonna start expecting perfection again buddy

I don't love the background on this one, looks a bit rushed, but the planet, rings, and flare are all awesome.

Aye, was rushed too - 10 min tops

Really need to stop submitting works of sub par quality - always get annoyed with myself afterwards - and rarely have the energy to revise

This is a really nice piece of work. I keep tryinng to figure out if they're nuclear explosions in the picture or what. None the less, stunning as it.
