Description The river Wharfe at Linton Falls, North Yorkshire, England. The building on the far bank and the mechanism in the middle of the weir were a "Watergate" which was raised and lowered to control the flow below the weir and the water level above the weir. Plans have been proposed to turn the sluices in the building into a small hydro electric plant to provide inexpensive power for the village. A good idea in my book.
