I don't use black, one of my painting teachers said to never use it. I don't completely agree with it, and do know artists that use it and it looks wonderful. But since I liked that teacher's style, I sort of adapted it to my own palette.

It's great to see your paint pallet. I'm always so worried about muddying up the colors.

Woo! If I could just get my watercolors to work for me the way yours work for you I could stop obsessing over hunting & burning all watercolors...everywhere. You saved watercolors!

I have a question, do you wet your paper first and then put the water colors on? Also, what colors do you use to get the skin colors? I could never keep the watercolors I want in the places without having it bleed.

If you mean washes, Β I do that sometimes but not that often. If you have trouble keeping your shapes intact, Β use less water in smaller areas, Β allow ample drying time or just use a hairdryer like I do. Β Hth

You don't put water on the paper first before the water color unless you want it to bleed. If you're putting the paint and water on the paper at the same time and it still bleeds its probably that you tried to put too much water or paint on your canvas at once (you'll know which one it is when it happens.) The type of paper/canvas might be a variable as well.
