Commission that's taken me pretty much last month to get done... original is an A3 size watercolour and ink piece. /phew!As the title says, it's events from Princess Aurora's childhood when she was being raised by the three good fairies hidden in the forest.

On the bottom picture, why is Fauna looking the other way?
Should that be Merryweather, looking the other way, being jealous of Briar Rose's top of that dress being pink instead of blue?

It's funny how the whole movie is told from the perspective of the fairies. Briar Rose/Aurora says almost nothing in the whole movie, anyway she's one of my favorite princesses.
And I always liked Briar Rose more than Aurora

Oh my, this is too cute! The three fairies are my favorite characters in this movie, and you've portrayed their relationship with Aurora so beautifully. I wish there had been more scenes like this in the movie!

This reminds me, if the fairies were living as non-magical beings for sixteen years, then how come they couldn't do things like sew or bake without magic!? Was that ever explained in the movie? I've only seen this film once or twice as a child.

As far as I remember it was never explained, it just seemed like they wanted to go for some gags and laughs with the whole making the cake and sewing the dress bit and ignore the plot hole.Β Or possibly Merryweather did everything as she seemed like the only competent one when it came to practical tasks.Β Β /shrugΒ

This was a commission so if I do other princesses it won't be exactly like this.. also I won't be in a hurry to do another like this, this one took almost a month to complete with all the planning and stories behind each scene.Β

I don't think you were too harsh, based on just the film I didn't particularly like Aurora much either.Β She's got, what, 15mins of screentime in her own movie?Β Rest is just gags with fairies or kings and Phillip fighting Maleficent.Β I'm glad I got this commission and had my eyes opened too.Β Β

This is excellent in both creativity and artwork! I love that you imagined and illustrated scenes from Briar Rose's childhood, which was all too glossed over in the jump to her 16th birthday.
