the problem IM having with inking is having a system for when I use solid black, single line or cross line hatching.
I try to use the curving of the hatch lines to imply volume and then some times the hatch lines just don't even seem suitable or trying to curve them seems goofy and even though the object being shaded is round or has volume. One thing that helped me out a lot was Todd McFarlane if you look up his dot dot dash dash inking style it gave me some insight into how he does his inks and I think he leans harder on the inks than almost everyone else in comics anyway I'm going on and on lol

Don't curve the lines when you are cross hatching. Instead, the endings should form an arc if the area you are filling are circular or curved.
