Description

  PLEASE READ and consider sharing!

Heya everybody

As you all know the big C keeps it's way of rampage and spreading all over the globe. With the situation as it currently is, (not only in my country), I've felt the urge to draw something in relation to the ways of how you can keep yourself and others safe and the virus from spreading uncontrolled. I see a lot of art that say "Wash your hands", but there is more to it that can help us all.

I thought a long time about this before making this piece, because I don't want to offend anybody, especially not the people who have fallen sick or lost relatives and friends, but there are still too many who take this pandemic too lightly or don't know how they can keep themselves and others safe. The increase in numbers every day shows it clearly...

To me the whole situation is a very serious one, as I too have several members in my family who are at risk due to heart-/ lung-deceases, cancer and weakened immunity system because of these conditions or old age.

So this art is not meant to be a joke or to only lighten the mood.

It's meant to be helpful to others. And I've used the characters from my MENDERTAle AU, because a lot of you know them already. Please consider that this is not an art to gain selfish attention for myself. I merely wish to be of help this way.

We're all facing a crisis... and we all can do this much to help one another... as well as giving mental support, of course.

A few kind words to make yourself and others feel a little better and safer will be just as welcome, I'm sure.

This small compilation is covering the "rules" everyone needs to follow to keep the infection-curve flat.

I want to help clearing the confusion, as many still think of the Corona-virus and Corvid-19 as a virus like the common flu that can be easily handled like one or (even worse) consider it propaganda of the pharmaceutical industry (sad and stupid, but no joke).

Even though we can't put the head in the sand or look away, but many feel helpless or confused about how they can keep safe...

So I did this art and hope it may will help somebody with this. Like I said: to me this is very serious and I have a lot of admiration for all who work so hard to keep our suply-lines and health-system running. Thank you to all those helpers who risks their own lifes. We all can do something and we must.

Every life lost is a tragedy...

===========

ABOUT EACH OF THE POINTS in the art:

*KEEP YOUR DISTANCE from others, 2 meters/ 6.5 feet at least

Do not gather in groups as the virus can easily spread from one person to another this way. If you have to go out shopping or because of other reasons, be sure to keep your distance to other people. It will keep you and others safe.

Even though you may not show any symptoms and you won't get sick in the end, but you still can carry the virus and infect others like this, because of the long incubation period it has.

This virus is a complete new member of the corona-virus-family (corona viruses are not as uncommon actually).

Which means nobody had it before ===> therefore no antibodies ===> therefore no immunity against it.

This is also why it's spreading so fast. Our bodies can't defend against Corona and Corvid-19, because it doesn't recognize the virus as an enemy in the early phase.

*Cough/ sneeze only into your elbow or a tissue (throw the tissue away right after it's used once)

Why should you do this? Because the virus is developing/ sitting in your mouth, throat and lungs. And this means with every cough you can spread it further if you do it into your hands or simply into the air. Plus it is unlikely you will use the inside of your elbow to pick up or touch things, right?

Throw tissues away right after you coughed in them. Why? Because the virus can survive a certain period on the tissue and the moisture will create a good place for it to grow. A soaked tissue is also the ideal place to get the little creeps on your hands.

[====> EDIT]

ABOUT MEDICAL MASKS

I know many put on these simple masks, but THEY ARE NOT A LONG-TERM PROTECTION!

Those can only be carried for a very limited time before you have to throw them away (about 2 hours). Like with a tissue your breath can soak them and create an ideal spot for the virus to grow and spread. So if you use them, make sure you don't overuse them.

Plus, they are not closing off your nose and mouth completely, which means air can still enter from the side. These do not have filters in them. Besides... it's more important to leave them for hospitals as they will need them more with numbers of patients increasing.

Therefore....

PLEASE DO NOT BUY AND USE MEDICAL MASKS. LEAVE THE RESOURCES FOR THE HOSPITALS AND CLINICS.

RATHER MAKE ONE YOURSELF. Those are still better than nothing. And if you make them out of fabrics like cotton and such, you can re-use them even if you cook them in hot water after using them.

Well  I don't disagree about wearing them.

They can provide a certain amount of protection, but there is still something that needs to be considered:

I know that many countries in Asia and the USA have a high amount of masks and companies that produce them in big numbers. First, due to of the large number of people living in a realtive small space and within the biggest cities of the world and second because of this, there might be, apart from viruses and bakteria, a higher concentration of dust and smog in the air. The more cramped a place is with people the more likely it is for virus to spread and air to get poluted due to traffic and such.

So a mask can surely help with that.

Still, I would ask of you to consider your countries resources and recommendations of your health institutions about this.

In Europe (and in my case, Germany) we don't have that many masks at our dispossal and not many companies which produce them here. So people have started on sewing them for themselves or as donations for clinics and hospitals.

There simply is not enough for the people. You can't even get them in the pharmacies anymore, because it's more important to have enough for the hospitals, helpers and patients in need of them.

So, if everyone would buy and use them here, there woudn't be enough left for the doctors and nurses who try to safe the patients....

Yet, this is the situation in my country only, of course.

=========

*  WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN!

I'm sure you've heard it a million times already, but still: Wash your hands and do it decently.

Do you know how the surgeons do it in several TV-series? To get scrubbed in before surgery? That's exactly how you should do it. And all you really need is warm water and soap and a good 40 seconds to do it.

Put attention to EVERY PART OF YOUR HANDS INCLUDING WRISTS, FINGERTIPS, NAILS and the small GAPS BETWEEN YOUR FINGERS.

There have been a good example in a google doodle a few days ago that sums it up perfectly.

It's really helpful and even a small child will understand it:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8OX0F…

And if you have small children/ siblings who can not understand why they should do this or if they don't want to because they don't like the feeling or are impatient, try to make a game out of this with them.

*Do not touch your face

Many touch their face out of a reflex and to be fair, I'm no exception. Yet, it is important to avoid it the best you can, especially if you need to go out, like for shopping, and have no options to keep your hands clean/ wash them.

The thing is you can't be certain that every person will have clean hands when they touch door handles, buttons or food baskets to shop with, so you can have it on your hands without knowing. But as long as it's only on your hands, it won't be a problem for yourself. Still... Once you're home/ can wash your hands again, make sure that you DO wash your hands right away.

*Do not buy more than you really need

Don't get me wrong: It's alright and even reasonable to create a small stock of supplies of food and hygiene products. This way you won't need to go shopping every two days and this will keep you away from other people. (Personally I do my shoppings every 10 days to twice a month.) But IT IS NOT OKAY is if you buy more than you really need. Leave others their fair share.

There is plenty for everybody and if we shop decently there will also be enough left for ourselves when we have to go out for shopping again.

Think about it for a moment...

And stop this nonsense with the toilet paper, please.

Corona is not a gastro influenza. If at all it's sitting in your throat and lungs... not in the...

*STAY HOME/ WORK AT HOME

This goes more or less back to "keep your distance". It's the same principle: Stay away from others.

Here, many people do their work at home already as all kindergardens/ schools are closed and they have to take care of their children or their company (one of many reasons).

I know that this can be very hard, especially if you're not an introvert or love being around people in general, but trust me: This can safe many lives. Also I know that boredom is something that can really get to you and your family-members. Plus it won't make matters easier to be sitting together all day, but honestly: There is a lot you can do at home.

Be creative and come up with something that will fill your day and keep the boredom and stress away. Find a hobby or create a new one for you, start a long-term project, re-decorate your home, meet your friends online and have movie-nights with them in a chat, play games with them, be in your garden (if you have one), learn a new language... there are so many options.

===========

PLEASE CONSIDER SHARING! Also feel free to share your thoughts on the topic and don't hesitate asking questions or for explanations. This is something that concerns us all. Of course, I'm no doctor and no expert, but still, I will try to help you if things aren't clear or if you want to talk about this in general.

STAY SAFE and STAY HEALTHY!

Was mich betrifft: Mir geht's soweit gut.

Mal schauen was draus wird.

Taleea In reply to InnocentiaSanguinis [2020-05-06 20:19:59 +0000 UTC]

I know... Even though the bigger part of the people here really try to behave and not act overly selffish, but there are always people who will do stupid things like this. The funny thing is that the storages are not empty just because the shelfs are empty, but certain products are usually not as much wanted as they are now, so of course it seems at first that there is not enough on the marked and people panic due to this twisted image of reality.

I go shopping all 2 weeks and so far I'm doing alright. Sure, sometimes something I need isn't available right in the moment I'm there, but as long as I can get my essentials so I can eat and clean my house normaly, it's alright.

Well, in that regard that's true: Being an introvert makes things a lot easier with the lock-down and all.

I too was send home as there is no work left for my company to do at all, not even for home-office.

So yeah, I'm into short time work at the moment, which means I won't loose my job while the crisis is going on, but I also won't have any real income.

I just hope my company will survive all of this...

All the advices above and wear mask. In my country, wear mask is obligatory now when covid-19 is everywhere and so many people got infected and died.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taleea In reply to TaramiNiru [2020-03-26 18:09:18 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your comment, Tarami.

Well, in general I don't disagree with you about wearing them. They can provide a certain amount of protection. But it depends always on the situation in every contry.

I know that many countries in Asia and the USA have a high amount of masks and companies that produce them in big numbers. First, because of the large number of people living in a realtive small space and within the biggest cities of the world and second because of this, there might be, apart from viruses and bakteria, a higher concentration of dust and smog in the air. The more cramped a place is with people the more likely it is for virus to spread and air to get poluted due to traffic and such. So a mask can surely help with that.

Yet, in Europe (and in my case, Germany) we don't have that many masks at our dispossal and not many companies which produce them here. There simply is not enough for the people. You can't even get them in the pharmacies anymore, because it's more important to have enough for the hospitals, helpers and patients in need of them.

Plus, if you're only having a simply one, you can not use each mask for every long as your breath can create a reservoir for bakteria and viruses when it uses all day and get's moist. If everyone would buy and use them here, there woudn't be enough left for the doctors and nurses who try to safe the patients....

And because our resources are so limited, we try to keep our distances the best we can here and don't come in contact with other people. Plus, we do not have cities as big as for example New York or Tokyo with millions of people in a tight space. So you CAN actually keep your distance here fairly easy.

When we keep our distance away from people, even when we're out shopping, wash our hands regulary and stay home, we won't need the masks as an essential, even though it may give you a feeling of safety for sure.

Yet, this is the situation in my country only. We simply don't have that many people in one spot. Other countries with a higher number of population in the bigger towns and cities sure will benefit a lot from the mask. Especially if it's a recommendation by your government and doctors. I DO see your point, but, like I said: it really depends on the situation in each country.

To make things abit more general, I will edit my writing in the description to that regard. Sorry, if I haven't considered the situation in a global aspect...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TaramiNiru In reply to Taleea [2020-03-27 04:30:02 +0000 UTC]

I know there’re countries which don’t produce mask widely for citizens but only for those who work in medical industry such as doctor, nurse and some other industries require extra cleanest for research. But to what I see and in my opinion, because of this, people adapt to the thought that mask is only needed for those people, as normal ones, they don’t need it and become subjective about their health when they have high quality medication and treatment. Hospital don’t have to take in many patients when they can treat themselves at home. Thus, they don’t prepare for a situation where lots and lots of people come into hospital.

And when an epidemic like covid-19 appears, hospital can’t handle it. They don’t have enough space for patients. Who comes first get the treatment, who comes later...depend on their fate, either get treatment or go home and make the sickness worse. In Italy, hospital refuses to treat those who are gravely ill and decides to abandon them to death. Some can’t even get to hospital and die at home, which make their family all infected.

Moreover, we don’t know who is sick since the symptoms of covid-19 don’t show right away when one got infected, though it’s still contagious. That’s why it’s essential to wear mask in my country. It not only protect ourselves but also others.

Keep a distance, wash your hand, use sanitizer, etc. all the advices are seriously being taken by everyone for their own sake. But once you get infected and before you know it, it’s better to wear mask than don’t. In order to save mask, we use normal mask as well, not just medical mask. Unlike the medical one which have to be thrown away after using, we can wash this one and reuse it. This is a necessary method for using mask when people are in shortage of it.

Heya Tarami,

Just want to let you know that I've talked to some friends today about what you told me about using masks you can acutally re-use by washing them hot and they've decided to sew and donate masks to the hospitals here.

Even though people here are still a bit new to the concept of wearing masks, but it's becoming more and more accepted and appreciated by now. Especially because you can realtively easy making them yourself.

You gave us some valuable information by sharing the situation in your country and so I like to thank you for this. Also in the name of my friends. Thank you so much.

Here, with the "contact prohibition" now executed (basically a lock-down, just a different name) people stay home most of the time with the exception of going out for shopping supplies, to work (if their companies still have some) or if you have an appointment with a doctor or any other essential institution that's no shut down yet (most of them are, though).

And yes... Many factors like the way the health system works, the resources and general situation fall into consideration as well.

It's good that we all can do something and we must.

Please stay safe and let's hope for this to soon be over again. Even though it will take a while before things are really back to normal, but currently I am already happy if the numbers are not making a big jump between days and my family is still safe...

Thank you and you're welcome.

Don't worry, homework isn't the worst and if you would go to school you would need to do it anyway.

As long as it keep you and your family safe, it's really not that bad. Plus it will take your mind off the situation a little as well. I know, homework can suck, but in the end you can get a good education and with it a good job hopefully. So there is a lot benefit even if you may not see it yet. Don't give up, it will be worth it.

Here, many people will loose their jobs (possibly me as well) and companies will likely go broke after this crisis is over, but this is still better than to risk lifes, wouldn't you agree? If it can help stopping the virus, I take it, even if it means loosing my job.

The economy can be rebuilt, but lost lives can not brought back...

In a house)
Wonder if this could help them out.

Thank you, dear. We'll, I've shared this on the other network I'm a member, which is only Pinterest, but it's a start. I will also ask two friends to share it on their Tumblr and Facebook.
But you can also share it if you like or ask the owner of the store if they can hang it out.
Sure, it's Undertale, but this is about the safety-recommendations not the characters after all. I just used the characters, because many people know the game.

Thanks for that and I'll definitely do it today...After I print it up
On my end and deliver it to them, Honestly they need all the help
They can get since people have been doing, Massive
grab and buys lately, which is hard for people, like me
(Who aren't panicking about this) To go about there
Daily lives, I honestly just want some normalcy back at
Least,

And thanks for that Taleea!
