“It's easier not to say anything. Shut your trap, button your lip, can it. All that crap you hear on TV about communication and expressing feelings is a lie. Nobody really wants to hear what you have to say.”
-"Speak" by Laruie Halse Anderson
This is a photomanipulation to go to rape victims. The meaning I wish to portray is that even if she doesn't say "Stop" or "No" out loud, if your looking, you can see that cry in her eyes. It's a look, it is body language, even if it doesn't come out in words.

My goal with this started out just being make a good manip with only my own stock, I am working on this so I can begin to rely on myself and not have to worry about breaking any rules. My goal expanded as I moved through making it, when I tried to see what meaning I wanted in it. With my family history having a lot of sexual abuse, and the stop sign, I thought this would be a good way to portray that connection. It is a cry for help, the scream of "NO!" that is in her eyes.
Some of my inspiration comes from a book I read years ago, "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. Here are some quotes.
When people don't express themselves, they die one piece at a time.
It doesn't hurt. Nothing hurts except the small smiles and blushes that flash across the room like tiny sparrows.
I am not going to think about it. It was ugly, but it’s over, and I’m not going to think about it.
IT happened. There is no avoiding it, no forgetting. No running away, or flying, or burying, or hiding.
i was raped, too
sexually assaulted in seventh grade,
tenth grade. the summer after graduation,
at a party
i was 16
i was 14
i was 5 and he did it for three years
i loved him
i didn't even know him
he was my best friend's brother,
my grandfather, father, mommy's boyfriend, my date, my cousin, my coach
i met him for the first time that night and-
4 guys took turns, and-
i'm a boy and this happened to me, and-
...i got pregnant i gave up my daughter for adoption... did it happen to you, too?
I have survived. I am here. Confused, screwed up, but here. So, how can I find my way? Is there a chain saw of the soul, an ax I can take to my memories or fears?

great illustration, there's ALWAYS a point where there's a choice to stop, not acknowledging that is the a***hole's credo

For some reason, this kinda reminds me of the Hunger Games. It's really cool though c:

It's not rape if they want it to happen to them. You can agree with that right?

I never said anything otherwise. I don't generally agree with cases of "statutory rape", but I do believe if a 13 year old and a 20 something year old have sex, there is something wrong with the older party- and he is a pervert and child rapist. That is just not right.
I am not implying that sex is rape just because the girl decides later she regrets what happened. I do believe if someone is pressured into having sex it is their decision, but that can still be rape, because if you say no over and over, it still started as no, even if it wears down to a regretful yes. But in all honesty, that person probably put herself into the vulnerable situation.
I never stated an opinion on what was rape, so your comment, the way it is worded, implies that I did. I did not, but hopefully the above shows you what I define as "rape"

Why do you feel the need to confirm what you already believe?
You already know what answer you are looking for.

Yes, age matters if you are dealing with a child. A pedophile can truly think he loves the child. And when children are not mature enough to understand such concepts, they can be manipulated, controlled, hurt.
Adults can do what they want. I don't care if a 60 year old marries a 25 year old. Or dates. Or has sex with.
A child 16 or younger being preyed on by an older person? Not right. Even slightly older people (17, 18), it is situational.
If a 26 year old male approaches a 13 year old and asks to date her, that is wrong. When that girl is 20 and a 38 year old approaches her and asks to date her, still odd because he is almost 40 but it could happen, and work.

I mean if the older person is willing to wait so that the younger person can make an informed design on the matter of conducting such acts. (I mean when they reach the age of maturity in the country they reside in.)
Then would you say that it's fine in your perspective?

It's possible. I will not give a concrete answer, there isn't one. Circumstance changes perspective, perspective changes reasoning.
Why are you so adamant about getting my perspective?

I like to hear other opinions on controversial and subjective matters such as this for example.
If you talk to other people you'll expand your own perspective. That's what I wish to do right now.

Alright, I totally get that. It just seems like you look for a specific answer. When you narrow your questions more and more, making it so specific, like you are trying to get a yes.
I do like the question though, interesting to answer.
