Description Fan art for Hansel and Gretel, playing in Portland this week and next: [link]

This is a piece of my work for the Portland Opera's 'Comic Artist Night at the Opera' event. I had a wonderful time at the play and urge everyone who can to buy a ticket now and go!

Pentel pocket brush pen on Bristol board, colored in Photoshop CS4.

LOVE the curve of the treeline! It gives me the sense that H&G are in a clearing but surrounded by the woods, that the trees are closing in... it also makes a kind of creepy smile, with word-bubbles for eyes... Also love the darker tone on the "...for good" bubble, like she's whispering, and the corner-placement reinforces that for me. The broken flower-chain is nice, too: the fun and games are over, and only traces linger. Also Hansel in shadow: foreshadowing? Too many shadows in that sentence, urk!
*has to ask* is that strawberry jam from a picnic lunch, or berry juice from scavinging food? Or is it something more... sinister? *gulps*
Clearly I've had too many critique sessions! I start analyzing things, lol. Love seeing your work, though! *is inspired to make things, but after dinner*
