All of these make the Pokemon look SO intimidating and powerful, but for Rayquaza in particular....this is utterly terrifying. Imagine if a beast of this size was real.

I second the notion that Rayquaza is essentially Pokemon's equivalent of Godzilla. A powerful, reptilian beast that exists to maintain balance towards nature and quell the disputes of other Legendaries.

Behold the Dragon that swims in the great Star Ocean, the mythical Rayquaza!Β Thought to have come down to Earth from the stars in ancient times, this beast is revered for its ability to calm the two titans Groudon and Kyogre whenever the two come into conflict with the other; many believe this dragon to being the strongest of Hoenn's Legendary Trio for this reason alone though whether it is actually fact is debated across the world to this day!Β Its signature attack is the Dragon Ascent where after it picks up speed while flying, it can accelerate to the point of becoming a shooting star, moving so fast that it leaves sonic booms in its wake though some speculate this is how it travels through space!Β It's very territorial and can be easily provoked when outworld invaders like Deoxys invade the planet it inhabits as its home which can sometimes lead those pokemon into constant conflict with this behemoth!!!

I have a theory that Rayquaza is an ancient Gyarados, which wanted to fly to much that evolved into a flying dragon.

Isn't that the Bagon's story? That he wanted to fly so much that he grew wings? Also, the first thing he learns after evolving into Salamence is the move "Fly".

Coincidence, I didn't know about Bagon. I made this theory, because Reyquaza and Gyarados look alike to me. G was often confused with dragon, so I connected it with R. I think only one ancient G achieved becoming R, no other G can do this, because the world changed too much.
