Here they stand
Two figures of surpassing beauty

A goddess and her mythic steed
Facing a shared destiny of greatness and nobility
A vast unconquered land lies at their feet
Untrammelled by hoof or dainty woman’s foot
Until now
The Lady and her ivory stallion are ready

Poised on the knife edge of legend
As the wind of Fate whips their gold and silver hair
Whispering of great deeds and glorious endings…

The story behind this while I was painting it was of the unsung strength of women of those times.
I don't believe that women hid in their towers crying for their men to come home and protect them. I think women were strong enough to keep the enemies away from their families and homes.

Emeline was a woman of strength and bravery. While the men of the keep were away fighting a far off battle, her and a handful of guards left behind and loyal serfs fought off armies wanting to conquer the land and her. She is cunning, and brave as any man alive. She did what she had to do to keep her home and people safe.

Now she is waiting for her partner and love to return home. She stands proud knowing that a woman can carve out a hero's place in a mans world.
