The tropical prismwing, while a small and wiry species of dragon, are deceptively powerful. Pictured here is an individual of the species, preparing to bask in the sun while noticeably encumbered. While most species will suffer from blood pooling at the head when hanging upside down for extended periods of time, these diminutive dragons do not. This is due to an adaption similar to what allows bats to sleep upside down. The valves within their blood vessels are powerful enough to fight against the pull of gravity, allowing them to hang like this for hours on end without ill effects, and in a similar vein, the valves in their stomach are also strong enough to fight gravity. In addition, their powerful, prehensile tail is able to support up to three times their own weight, and their ridged talons have unparalleled grip on the bark! However, there's more than just strength that this species hides. One would be wise to take caution around an individual that's so seemingly engorged. This exact one crammed our photographer down his gullet soon after this picture was taken, and we have yet to learn of his fate...
