Description
Des Trolls (pronounced Deh Troll, same E sound as in Egg) are medium sized herbivores that live in the temperate regions of Toci-1's eternal jungle. Growing as tall as an adult human's shoulders, they seem to be easy food for predators. However, these creatures have a defense tactic unique to them. Their strength is remarkable and they can carry full grown trees on their back for a long period of time.

Living by river banks where the soil is soft, they can easily tear old trees out of the mud thanks to the rotten roots. Bending their arms backwards, the tree is carried on their backs. The tail wraps around the trunk for additional strength and control while the top part of the tree rests on the back of their head. Their head is protected by a thick layer of dry skin that acts like a helmet. Bearing a large plant, the Des Trolls look a lot bigger than they actually are.

But that isn't always enough to protect these herbivores. To make themselves even more intimidating, they emmit an extremely loud yodel-like sound. Predators are spooked by the sudden chant and the approach giant tree causes them to panic and flee. The chants are usually moderated but in extreme cases, Des Trolls can make sounds as loud as possibly 210 dB, making them the loudest animals ever known. But the stress of such a sound would force the user to go for an immediate drink of water or the throat would suffer permanent damage.

The nasal cavity of the male Des Troll helps emmit their loud sound. Females have a smaller nose and emmit different kind of sounds. It is speculated that animals of both genders find each other via sound and won't mistake an animal's gender thanks to the differences in tone. Both genders have the strange pearl like organs similar to the Lydians, of which they are distantly related. The pearls are special organs that help the animal navigate in the neverending jungle, indicating it where the poles are.

"This creature is based on my favourite singer when I was a child: Henris Dès. Particularly the song of the ant that carried big things while singing. The Des Troll is supposed to have a while head and neck with a red body, the color pattern meant to reflect Henris Dès' outfit during one of his concerts at the Olympia. Additionally, the Des Trolls is inspired by Ogres and even more by Trolls. These animals are also rather slow and dimwitted but very strong. The patches of "hair" (which are actually blooms of loose skin) and the large nose reflect the troll's ugly appearance. Although they don't turn to stone like the trolls in the legends, they are vulnerable to solar flares like all life forms on Toci-1"
