this book man
alot of things happened. a few things revealed.
squirrelfilghts entire life comes crumbling down in the most erratic way possible
i am SO angry at bramblestar, i really try to like him, believe me
but he is so so so unlikable in this book like god, might aswell hand the guy a woman beater heck
it took his mates DEATH for him to snap back to her uggggh
squirrelflights life utterly sucks

You know making Bramblestar abusive while not as bad as Tigerstar makes sense honestly, he probably had trauma in his life he never got over and despite his character arc being him trying to prove he isn't the same is kinda dead but I could love to hate this guy if squirrel dumped him at the end of the book and even maybe made the comparison saying he might not be physically murdering cats but he tried to kill her spirit. And through this it would twist that arc with more cats realising how abusive he is becoming and pointing it out so much he realises that in some ways he has become worse then his father, and with the new broken code series even if it wont happen it would be interesting if the ghost that possesed him was maybe someone who was disgusted with Bramblestar and wanted the clans to get rid of him as leader by denouncing their respect for him with all the code breaking rants and treating his clan like garbage while his ghosts watches and suffers and starclan is closed to him until he steps down and accepts whatever punishment they choose for him. If power was what made him like this then he shouldn't have it

well ashfur honestly, he has all the qualities you described there, maybe not so much the "clans get rid of him"
but for the most part yeah kinda.

Honestly the Erins have done the immediate Fire family way too dirty. Firestar always ends up being the hero and sacrificing EVERYTHING AND STILL HAS TO PROVE hIMSELF OVER AND OVER, Sandstorm is the best loving wife BUT HER HUSBAND STILL HAS HIS SCHOOLYARD CRUSH WHISPERING IN HIS EARS AND THEIR DAUGHTER'S EARS, and I can't even get started on Squirrelflight and Leafpool. They've been done wrong in way too many ways. I just can't.
And for a cat who always to prove himself to his clan, he sure as heck did EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO PROVE WHY NO ONE SHOULD TRUST HIM.
