Description
The vast majority of Earth’s remaining population, that has survived the Dream Melt, took shelter from the dangers of unpredictable warped wasteland deep beneath the surface, in large underground bunkers, lower levels of city ruins and various underground facilities. In one such isolated bunker-city, called Novoborsk, located deep in Siberia, lives a woman named Alexandra Volkova, trying to fit in a society that treats her as a tool at best and a monster on a leash at worst.
Alexandra is a Pseudo-human (or simply a Pseudo), a synthetic android, whose ancestors were created by humans as a weapon some time prior the Dream Melt. Due to a built-in synthetic reproduction system, Pseudo-humans managed to survive and enlarge their numbers, though they are still very few compared to humans and other inhabitants of the warped wastes. Like her other brethren, Alexandra is stronger, faster and somewhat more intelligent than most humans. Though she does have emotions, her synthetic brain allows her to “isolate” them when necessary, preventing them from affecting her judgement. However, she seems rather cold and unemotional most of the time anyway due to her personal tendency for hiding her feelings. She is brave, determined and performs tasks without hesitation with utmost precision. Although her job involves lots of violence and she performs it with no mercy and almost no remorse, she is not bloodthirsty and is no stranger to sympathy and comradery. Most people, however, still see her as a merciless and heartless killing machine.
Alexandra works as a persecutor in the НББ (Novoborsk Security Bureau). Her duties include seeking out and liquidating criminals, terrorists and various other threats to safety of citizens, as well as enemies of the Party. She is often tasked with hitting a problem really hard until it stops being a problem, since she is much stronger and more durable than her human colleagues. She wears a standard issue persecutor coat and armor vest, carries a pistol and a КМ–5КР (short sword mk5, piercing-chopping), designed for combat in tight spaces of the underground city.
Alexandra was raised to become a persecutor from an early age, after her parents, who were also persecutors, were killed on duty and she was then taken in by the Party to be raised as a weapon. However, Alexandra is smart enough to not fall for propaganda and doesn’t actually do her job out of loyalty to the Party ideals. She simply doesn’t know what else she can do for a living. Even her co-workers treat her like a weapon and fear her. Her kind was originally created as weapons, after all. The common folk fear her even more, thinking she may think of them as enemies of the Party and execute them on the spot for slightest disobedience. Because of such attitude, Alexandra often wonders if she is even a person or just a person-shaped tool. Though it may be hard to see through her cold emotionless facade, she is a damaged and lonely individual who desperately needs someone who could recognize her as a person with emotions and personality.
