Wow. I am amazed by your clarity in the drawings, and the depth you create. They look like an actual photo!

Great work like always!
I read your problems with the pencils. Good to know! Sometimes the best quality is not really good for what you intend to do, but for the great work you are producing, you should have only the best material.

Absolutely amazing! At first I thought it was digital, but the details are something that only regular pencils can do. And I love the damage details, it does get boring to see cars only in their clean and perfect stages. Well done.

Hey, thanks, I'm glad you like it!
I'm happy about the reference photo having damage, too, it makes a D1 car look more a beast.
And cheers for the fav, too!

Hey! Thank you, I'm glad to see you like cars!
Yes the details were a pain in the ass and actually decals continued on the hood as well but I decided to leave it, partly because I've had enough after those long hours and partly because the hood didn't provide a dark contrast to the white decals so it wouldn't have been so great-looking there anyway.
Thanks for the comment!

First of all, great use of interesting media- Hb-6B pencils and an experiment on the wolf's carbon. I like the orange rims too, red would have killed it. Don't you know that orange is HOT?
For a first-off attempt, you've done really well, but you sure have chosen a hard subject - drift cars have attitude and style all their own. Getting the decals and lettering right requires painstaking work. I would have liked to have seen a lower roofline as it surey would have made the Silvia look lower and fatter, but overall, this is a great first piece and I'm looking forwards to seeing more!

Hi, thank you for the feedback!
I'm glad you like the orange rim, believe me it is a killer with red, too, though)
Also the orange was done with some cheap colored pencil, I've nothing better yet...
You're right, I chose a hard subject, only realized it really when I was working on it...
I'm satisfied with how it turned out, though
The roofline - do you mean I screwed it up compared to the original photo? Maybe I did, I didn't use a grid, the perspective therefore is not perfect.
Thanks for the input again!!

It's never good to be a slave to a photo, sometimes, your own interpretation is what makes an artwork look great!
I know Silvias extremely well, having been in the automotive field for 10 years. On initial inspection, aye, the roofline does look a little high and makes the car look top-heavy. Maybe the original looks better than the online image, I can't be sure. I never use a grid, perspective is always in the eye and I'm glad you didn't too. If you can, take a scan of the Silvia, stretch it by maybe 10 percent (or shrink it vertically by 10%) and I guarantee you it will look more natural, and more aggressive!

You are absolutely right.
The car could be somewhat wider.
It's a shame, because it means that I already screwed it up at the initial sketch phase: the least time-consuming part.
If only I had taken better care, I wouldn't be sad now.
I just tested it and yes, even just 10% scale did wonders. Well, I have to be much more precise next time.
Thanks for pointing it out, it helps actually. And I'm sure there are other flaws, too.

Practice makes perfect, I have probably only seen a handful of artists who are perfect proportionists (Dan Storm is one, the other is John Harding) when it comes to cars.
You're an excellent artist, your first full car is fantastic and shows that you'll be right up there if you keep laying down the pencil-work. Looking forward to your next piece!
Cheers!

Thanks for the motivating words, I really appreciate it!
This is the first time someone tells me I'm an excellent artist. And it feels really good.
That's right, the people you mentioned are really skilled and one can't find no flaws in their works. I also admire them.
Cheers again!
