Description
Also known as the "Irish Elk".However, Megaloceros Giganteus ranged most Eurasia, and wasn't an Elk... it was a deer. So "Irish Elk" would be the farthest from the truth of the matter.
Becuase of the association these fellahs had with Cernunus, the finding of multiple fossils in the region of the isles, the name stuck. It is/has been changed however.
This one was another one of those weekly-submission pics to my prof, but was one I wanted to do ever since I dreamed about it.
I am so tempted to bead myself a belt with the image of the Chief-of-the-Deer-peoples. Just like the one he had and gave away- but mine would be different as it would depict the Chief and designs, while his was just designed.
I need more time for the things I want to do with my life.

Don't they have one of these guys skeleton at the Tyrell Museum? I know I stood gawking at a wired up skeleton somewhere as a kid. Absolutely fantastic creature! I remember thinking I could sit on one antler and it would be like sitting in the palm of hand.
I like the content, triumphant look he has. He knows he's awesome, but he's so awesome he doesn't have to go around telling people.

I love that "Giganteus" is part of this guy's name. x3 In the museum up in Chicago they had this big 'ole room of ancient mammals. Magaloceros and Megatherium were and are my favorites. (:
